About Crewboard

A jobs board made for the maritime industry

Crewboard (crew-board.net) brings seafarers together with the crewing companies and shipowners that hire them. Made from seaman for seamen and employers, it is built for crews first.

For seafarers

  • Free. Keep your CV (documents, certificates, sea service) in one place, download it as a PDF, and see which documents expire soon.
  • Apply to vacancies with one click, up to 5 at a time, and follow each application's status.
  • You decide who sees your CV: nobody, only companies we have verified, or everyone. Your phone, email, document numbers and next of kin are never shown publicly; a company gets your contacts only when you apply to it or accept its request.

For companies

  • Post vacancies with the salary, contract and join dates, and review applicants with their full CV.
  • Verification: a company sends its registered name, registration and crewing licence numbers, and we check them against public registers and licence lists. Verified companies get a badge, full seafarer profiles and contact requests. Unverified companies can post vacancies, shown with a “Not verified” badge.

External vacancies

Next to the vacancies companies post on Crewboard, external vacancies are adverts that companies published themselves on their own websites or official channels. An automated tool collects them and checks each one against our rules (no fees, real companies, recent adverts); we take down any that break them, and any on request. Signed-in users see the company, its contacts and a link to the original. Adverts are shown for at most 60 days. These companies haven't been verified by Crewboard: you deal with them directly.

Never pay for a job

Under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), seafarers must not pay to be recruited. Crewboard never asks you for money, and we remove vacancies and accounts that ask for fees, offer fake jobs or misuse your data. If something looks wrong, report it. Before you send documents, check the company on its own website, and see our useful links for official ways to verify certificates and get help.

News

Crewboard News covers what matters at sea: safety and security, rules such as MLC and STCW, visas and crew changes, jobs and wages, accidents, rescues and recruitment scams. When a story develops, the post is updated and marked as such. Guides answer lasting questions, such as renewing a certificate or checking a job offer, and are kept up to date. How we choose, source and correct articles: editorial policy.
