These terms apply to everyone who uses Crewboard (crew-board.net). “We” and “the administration” mean the team that runs Crewboard. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over.
- Give true information, and keep it up to date.
- One person or company per account. Don't share your login with anyone.
- Keep your password safe: you are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us at info@crew-board.net straight away.
- A company account must be created by someone allowed to act for that company.
What you publish
Your profile, CV, vacancies, photos and messages stay yours. You allow us to store and show them on Crewboard, and to send them to the companies you apply to, only to run the site. This ends when you delete them or your account. Publish only what is true and what you have the right to share.
For seafarers
- Your documents, certificates and sea service must be real and yours.
- When you apply for a vacancy, that company receives your CV and contact details.
- Verified companies may send you contact requests. Your contacts are shared only if you accept, and you can stop sharing at any time.
- Crewboard is free for seafarers.
For companies
- Publish only real vacancies that you are allowed to recruit for, with honest pay and conditions.
- Keep vacancies up to date: close a vacancy once it is filled, and don't post the same vacancy more than once.
- Don't publish vacancies just to collect CVs or to advertise. Look at the applications you receive and set their status, so seafarers know where they stand.
- Photos on your company page and vacancies must be real and show your own office, team or the vessels you recruit for. Upload only photos you have the right to publish, and get the consent of anyone recognisable in them.
- Send contact requests only about real work on board, with an honest message. There is a daily limit; don't try to get around it.
- Never charge seafarers any fee for recruitment or placement, as required by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006).
- Use seafarers' data only to recruit for your vacancies. Don't copy it in bulk, sell it or use it for marketing. Once you receive a CV or contact details, you are responsible for that data and for handling it lawfully, and you answer seafarers' requests about it yourself.
Company verification
- A company can ask to be verified in its profile. We check its details in public company registers and licence lists. Verified companies get a Verified badge and can open full seafarer profiles; other companies' vacancies are shown as “Not verified”.
- We decide whether to verify a company and may refuse without giving every detail of our checks. We may ask for more information, check again at any time, and remove the verification if the details turn out to be wrong or the company breaks these terms.
- Verification only means the company exists and its details matched public records when we checked. It is not a recommendation or a guarantee of any job offer, so seafarers should still check every offer themselves.
Not allowed
- Fake profiles, fake vacancies, scams, or asking anyone for money to get a job.
- Bots, scrapers or other automated tools; copying vacancies, profiles or contact details to other sites or databases; or trying to get around the site's limits or security.
- Spam, harassment, discrimination, or content that is illegal or not yours to publish.
What the administration may do
To keep Crewboard safe and useful, we may:
- refuse a registration, or ask a company to confirm it is real;
- edit or remove content that breaks these terms, or lower a vacancy's visibility;
- limit, suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, in serious cases without notice;
- change, add or remove features of the site.
When we remove a vacancy or suspend an account, we email the owner the reason. If you think it's a mistake, write to info@crew-board.net and we will look at it again.
Emails
We send emails that the service needs: account verification, password reset, application status and vacancy expiry. Security and account emails can't be turned off while you have an account. We don't send advertising.
What Crewboard is, and isn't
Crewboard brings seafarers and companies together. We are not a party to any job offer or employment contract, and we don't check every vacancy or profile. Check a company or candidate yourself before you agree to anything, and never pay to get a job. Report anything suspicious through the contact form or to info@crew-board.net.
External vacancies are adverts other companies published on their own websites or other public pages. We copy them, with a link to the original for signed-in users, and check them briefly, but the companies haven't been verified by Crewboard and you deal with them directly. The original advert is what counts. A company that doesn't want its advert shown here can ask us to remove it through the contact form.
We do our best to keep the site running and your data safe, but the service is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or error-free, or that you will find a job or a candidate. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the site or from dealings between its users.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, or, if it is suspended, by writing to info@crew-board.net. What happens to your data is described in the Privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; for important changes we tell registered users first. If you keep using Crewboard after a change, the new terms apply.
