Rest WorkHalf-hour steps. Days follow each other, so the 24-hour and 7-day checks run across midnight.
How it works
MLC 2006 (Standard A2.3) and STCW (Section A-VIII/1) require, for every seafarer:
- at least 10 hours of rest in any 24-hour period;
- at least 77 hours of rest in any 7-day period;
- rest in no more than two periods, one of them at least 6 hours long;
- no more than 14 hours between consecutive periods of rest.
“Any 24 hours” means every 24-hour window, not just midnight to midnight, so this tool checks windows starting on every half hour across the week. Musters, drills and emergencies, and exceptions a flag state allows, are not taken into account: check them in your ship's records and the flag rules.
For training and cross-checking. Not a substitute for approved navigation equipment, nautical publications and the ship’s own procedures. Calculations run in your browser and nothing you type is stored; a PDF you download is made on our server and not kept.
