Unit and position converter
The units used on board, from knots and fathoms to bar, kW and barrels, and positions between decimal degrees, degrees and minutes, and degrees, minutes and seconds.
Fill in the fields to see the result.
How it works
1 nautical mile = 1,852 m exactly; 1 cable = 0.1 nm; 1 knot = 1 nm per hour. 1 fathom = 6 ft = 1.8288 m; 1 shackle of anchor cable = 15 fathoms (27.432 m). 1 bar = 14.504 psi = 100 kPa. 1 kW = 1.36 metric hp. 1 oil barrel = 158.99 litres.
Positions: 33° 51.408′ S = 33° 51′ 24.48″ S = −33.8568°. South latitudes and west longitudes are negative in decimal form.
